Whether collected by satellite, aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicle, aerial imagery can often be difficult to interpret without some context on what is being viewed. MapStrata provides that context by allowing users to automatically import maps for the area of interest. Maps bring a richness of knowledge in that they contain street names, roads, parks, building names, schools and myriad other information of relevance to the area of interest.
Until now its been a time consuming and tedious process to first find maps of relevance to a given area, and then integrate and display – accurately – the information from the map on the aerial image. MapStrata automates that process by automatically discovering, integrating and displaying maps for aerial imagery around the world. Using MapStrata, previously unlabeled aerial imagery now contains road networks, building names, gas stations, parks, airports, government buildings, historical markers, political boundaries, geographic features, bridge names, and other details of relevance. The ability to automatically find, extract, import and align maps to imagery makes MapStrata an important tool in bringing situational awareness to aerial imagery.
